IMAGE PROCESSING
The new processing images software has been developed with three purposes:
  • provide the best devices to acquire radioscopic images;
    the software can handle now two digital devices for the image acquisition, a 1000x1000 resolution camera with a 12 bits dynamic and a 512x512 resolution panel with a 16 bits dynamic
  • provide a wide range of functions to help the operator to identify, judge and mark the defects;
    all the previous functions have been implemented and improved, furthermore new functions have been added to satisfy our customers requests
  • make it easy and intuitive;
    the interface has been thought to be used with a touch-screen monitor with controls that can be easily activated and identified; it can be provided as a stand-alone product or totally integrated into the M@X and HEX equipment software; it is furthermore available in three version (Base, Plus and Extreme) to meet all customers needs
DEFECTS IDENTIFICATION:

with the operator’s help the system can identify defects to provide their areas.

MAGNIFICATION:
a x2 magnification zoom can be moved over the image applying a local gamma correction.

NOTES:

a wide chose of geometric figures and texts allows the operator to comment the radioscopic images.

MOTION DETECTOR:
an automatic noise reduction is applied on the images when the casting movement stops.

HDI
The manual radioscopic inspection, that is executed by an operator, is still important in many applications, therefore it is fundamental to develop new tools that can help the human judgment.

the two main problems that afflict the manual inspection are:
  • constant presence of noise over the radioscopic image offered to the operator eyes, this produces discomfort and increases difficulties in detecting small discontinuities
  • continuous necessity to adjust the X-Ray energy depending on the material thicknesses to avoid blooming effects or to penetrate higher thicknesses
Bosello High Technology proposes one solution to both problems, the tool is HDI and it is made-up by a last generation digital sensor and a specific acquisition and visualization software able to exalt any detail.
The digital sensor produces an image sequence up to 30 fps with a very low noise level and an information 200 times greater than the standard image intensifier and camera systems.
Another advantage is the absence of any distortion, that is the images are geometrically regular.
The software elaborates any image before showing it on the display in order to exalt any brightness variation to the operator eyes.
Therefore the HDI allows a standard manual inspection with a superior visual quality.
Image from digital panel without any software manipulation.
  • bsence of noise
  • ability to inspect low and high thicknesses together
  • absence of geometric deformations
In this image some discontinuities are present, but with the software help all the information 'explodes out' to produce a higher quality image.

Image from digital panel with software manipulation.
  • the casting seems to be transparent
  • hidden details appears on the image
  • the operator does not need to change continuously X-Ray values
  • moving the casting the operator can guess the depth and spatial position of discontinuities
